Nicola Roberts to whup ass

You get the feeling she's been lurking in the background somewhere. Hidden behind the band Girls Aloud, she's been one of those stars concealed behind manufactured pop for the masses.
But let's not hold that against her. Girls Aloud was what it was. Now it turns out Nicola Roberts can actually sing. The rest were just smothering her talent. Fact.
It's like she's been waiting and working all seven years in Girls Aloud to get her confidence up to do it alone. Now she's on the brink of releasing her first solo album, Nicola Roberts is about to hit the big time. She's no longer the quiet, shy redhead who got a rough time from the tabloids.
Beat of My Drum, the first single from her new album made it to number 27 in the charts before dropping off. It was perhaps, too experimental to make it any further, but her next single off the album, 'Lucky Day' is pop legend. Kudos to the video too - it's one of those vids that just grabs the attention and refuses to let go, despite its simplicity.

Most surprising of all, is that this girl band member can sing. Listening to her live on stage she sounds like she does in the recording studio - a rarity these days. With that kind of voice, she needs to push the boat out and go for it. And best of all, she's written her own material. No drafted-in pen pushers and composers for this album. Unlike some former band members. Ahem.
Check out latest single, Lucky Day. It's pencilled in for release on 18th September with the album, Cinderella's Eyes set to be released on 26th September.
