Serena Williams unleashes on umpire

If once is a mistake then twice is habit forming. Just ask Serena Williams after her latest tirade of abuse against the umpire at the final of the 2011 Women's US Open. Williams unleashed the rant after shouting out 'Come On' before her opponent, Sam Stosur, had hit the ball - a 'hindrance call' in tennis speak and against the rules. The umpire, Eva Asderaki, gave the point to Stosur only to be berated by Williams immediately.
“Aren’t you the one who screwed me over last time? Are you coming after me? That is totally not cool,” Williams mouthed to the umpire.
At the break, Williams continued the assault on the sensitivities of the ref saying, "If you ever see me walking down the hall, look the other way, because you're out of control... You're totally out of control, you're a hater, and you're unattractive inside. Who would do such a thing?"
Serena then informed the ref, in a line that will probably follow her around forever more, that, "I never complain." Clearly, irony is not something she gets.
With the umpire looking away, Serena mouthed, "What a loser." Once again, the concept of irony was lost on Serena who was losing the match badly.
Serena decided a bit of geography wouldn't go astray either and told the ref, "We're in America last time I checked." After requesting some water she then decided some smart ass quips were in order with "Oh am I gonna get violated for water? Don't even look at me." The ref, for the record, wasn't looking at her.
At the next, "Don't look my way," the ref did just that.
Could we suggest the umpire for 'Patience of the Year Award'? If there is no such award anywhere, we're happy to send her a bag of crisps as a prize.
Serena Williams has refused to apologise for the abuse saying it was in the heat of the game. The U.S. Open disagreed somewhat and fined Williams $2,000. Damn haters.
