Brad Pitt was quick out of damage control central today when he clarified remarks he made in an interview with Parade magazine about ex-wife Jennifer Aniston. Going where no man should ever go, Pitt decided to compare life with Angelina Jolie to his marriage with Aniston. Like a lamb to the slaughter, Pitt told the magazine that he was now a 'satisfied man' in his relationship with Jolie.
Convincing us that he has some sort of death wish, Pitt just kept digging.
"It became very clear to me that I was intent on trying to find a movie about an interesting life, but I wasn't living an interesting life myself," he told Parade.
"I think that my marriage [to Aniston] had something to do with it. Trying to pretend the marriage was something that it wasn't."
Today, Pitt was out berating the media for taking that up as saying Aniston was boring.
"It grieves me that this was interpreted this way. Jen is an incredibly giving, loving, and hilarious woman who remains my friend. It is an important relationship I value greatly. The point I was trying to make is not that Jen was dull, but that I was becoming dull to myself - and that, I am responsible for," Pitt said in the statement.
Pitt and Aniston married in 2000. In 2005, the pair split with Pitt quickly (some say too quickly) hooking up with Angelina Jolie who had co-starred with Pitt in Mr & Mrs. Smith.
Pitt also decided to rubbish Aniston as a mother, "One of the greatest, smartest things I ever did was give my kids Angie as their mum. She is such a great mum. Oh, man, I'm so happy to have her."
Then the final blow to Aniston came with Pitt saying, "I put much more emphasis on being a satisfied man. I'm satisfied with making true choices and finding the woman I love, Angie, and building a family that I love so much.
"A family is a risky venture, because the greater the love, the greater the loss. That's the trade-off. But I'll take it all."
