A man's ring should never be the first item to catch the eye. As with most accessories for men, they should add to the overall look, rather than be the look. Rings are one of those items that men rarely, if ever, purchase for themselves. But the right ring can be a subtle yet powerful addition to any image, particularly if you want to drop a hint of personal wealth.
There are some basic rules. Unless you're married it's unwise to wear a ring on the wedding finger - that's the third finger on your left hand (your finger next to the smallest pinky for pete's sake!). You'll simply be telling every female that you're off the menu. Keep the ring in tone with the rest of your clothing. For instance, skull rings worn with business suits look out of place. As do chunky diamonds on a hippy. Remember the look your trying to achieve! Other than that, a ring is a matter of personal preference. Price wise, expect to pay anything from $20 upwards. Generally, if you intend wearing the ring full time you should plump for a more expensive ring. It'll last longer, won't lose it's shine and definitely won't leave your finger with a green band of oxidation as a cheap ring is wont to do (If you do buy a cheap ring and it begins oxidizing, coat it in clear nail varnish - it'll halt the oxidation process!).
Some of the nicer rings we've come across (Note from Ed: We have paid not one iota of attention to value for money with these rings, so purchase at your own peril! We do not receive commission, goodies or prayers as a result of picking these rings. That outta cover the disclaimer part!. )

Black Gold Ring - Black is so in for 2009 and into 2010. Black jewelry immediately hints at the mysterious but looks stunning and easily fits into most wardrobes. This ring is from AbsoluteTitanium and starts at $675

14k White Gold, with a symmetrical diamond pattern on top. Very sleek, very sophisticated, this ring would go well with those seeking a hint of opulence in their outfit. From $1,032 http://www.yourmensjewelry.com/products/32938.html

A sterling Silver ring available for around $50. Suitable for the younger man or student, it will add a touch of flair to the wearer. Many designs are available for this price range, choose one you like that isn't ostentatious. The design should reflect the price of the ring - girls have an uncanny ability to tell that sterling silver is not gold even at a distance of 200 yards. You might not be able to tell the difference at 200 millimeters, but trust us on this, women can and your attempt to flaunt an inexpensive ring with a flamboyant design will not pass the faintest of scrutiny.

Designer rings don't need to cost a months labor either. This one from Calvin Klein is both stylish and affordable - roughly $60. Made from polished resin to a high gloss. Available on Amazon

Simple yet attractive wedding band is made from tungsten carbide, the hardest metal alloy on earth. The inlay is made from sterling silver contrasting against the darker shading of the tungsten carbide. Priced from $999 from titanium-jewelry.com
