Hairstyles for men - sharp partings, slicked back and hanging loose

Head & Shoulders last gave us some (much needed) advice on creating the perfect quill, sharp texture and marriot hair style back in November. But things change. Much like your missus. So they've kindly sent us some new advice on getting the best up-and-coming hairstyle trends, gleamed from no less than the catwalks of Bottega Veneta, Pringle of Scotland and Thierry Mugler.

We're presuming that an unspoken rule of these press releases is that we advice readers to rush out and buy Head & Shoulders. We've no qualms in doing so anyway. It's legendary. Seriously.

Sharp Partings at Bottega Veneta:

Sharp PartingsBottega Veneta sent smart, low maintenance hair down the runway, with neat side partings and not a hair out of place:
·        For this slick style, clean hair and scalp is important, so shampoo with head&shoulders cool menthol (to stop your parting revealing any flakes) and towel dry
·        Apply a small amount of Shockwaves Re-Create Styling Shaping Gel, use a wide tooth comb and sculpt into the style, keeping the parting neat
·        Apply a tiny bit more gel to combat stray hairs and smooth over them with your hands

Soft Side-Sweep from Pringle of Scotland:

Soft Side SweepPringle of Scotland was military inspired with heavy knits, trenches and trousers tucked into heavy boots contrasting to soft, side-swept hair. Michael calls this an update on one of the first modern, post-war styles:

·          To achieve it, apply Shockwaves Lightweight Gel to damp hair and blow dry from the crown forward, using a comb to keep the hair flat while drying

·          Once all dry, apply Shockwaves Styling Wax with your palms, smooth over the hair and sweep the fringe across one way

Slicked-back and Shiny at Thierry Mugler:

Slicked back and shinyHorror film-inspired Mugler channeled Phantom of the Opera, sending ghostly white models down the runway, with sleek, gelled back hair:

·        Your hair cut needs to be short back and sides but at least 5cm of length on top and it’s wet look gel all the way with this style!

·        Prep the hair by shampooing with head&shoulders cool menthol shampoo - the scalp has to be flake free for this, as you'll see any dryness or dandruff on the finished look

·        Apply a 50p coin sized amount of Shockwaves Wet Look Gel to wet hair and comb back with a wide tooth comb - no hairdryer and no touching until it's dry!

Hanging Loose with Paul Smith:

Hanging LoosePaul Smith channeled the 1970’s trend, teaming laid back clothing on models sporting soft partings, long, loose, messy hair:

·        Prep the hair with head&shoulders cool menthol shampoo to remove product residue which can make hair look limp and flat

·        Apply Shockwaves Heat Defence Curl Shaping Mousse to damp hair and blow dry with a hairdryer on a high heat but low speed, until about 90% dry

·        Put in a deep side parting and then finish with Shockwaves Styling Wax about the size of a 10p coin - apply more if needed and style with hands and fingers - no brush or comb
