Simpon Dolls banned in Iran

The Simpon won't be the catalyst for any revolution in Iran after the regime there banned dolls of the popular cartoon because they promote 'western culture.' The Simpsons now have the dubious distinction of joining Barbie (and presumably Ken) on a blacklist of toys outlawed by the State. Homer would be proud.
A spokesman for the regime said dolls on which the genitals are visible are banned along with dolls of adults. Any dolls that plays songs of western musicians are also forbidden and if you have a kitchen toy set that includes glasses for drinking alcoholic beverages - you are a wanted fugitive.
Barbie was banned long ago because of her skimpy bikini outfits (as far back as 1996). But superheros Spiderman and Superman are just fine because they help the oppressed. Although Barbie has long been banned, it is possible to buy the dolls in Iran on the black market and even in shops as enforcement is pretty sporadic.
Iran imported $57 million worth of toys last year but officials there estimate another $20 million was imported illegally on the black market.
