China bans Gaga as threat to national security

I never thought I'd find myself defending the music of Lady Gaga, the Backstreet Boys and Kate Perry. China has banned songs by all three. Not on the basis of bad music, which might have found some support. Instead, the Chinese have gone all drama queenish and banned songs deemed a threat to 'national security.'

So here we are once again, pointing out the lunacy that rules over China and walks gazillions of Chinese into a life structured and controlled by an elite few.

100 songs have been banned by the Chinese Ministry of Culture with instructions issued to radio, television and website owners not to provide, play or distribute the said music lest it cause the downfall of the glorious Chinese Empire.

The artist with most songs banned was was of all people, Lady Gaga. Clearly, her raunchy pop music centered around things like Jesus, telephones and poker could swiftly provoke an armed uprising that would threaten the entire fabric of Chinese life. I'd have thought Rage Against The Machine, Metallica and anything by Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi would have been more of a threat.

Kate Perry - Revolutionary

Kate Perry's 'Last Friday Night' also features. The last thing the Chinese regime want is anybody reminiscing about last Friday night. Best if the peasants focus on their work.

The banned list of songs is part of a wider attempt by the Chinese regime to crack down on any and all stimuli that might leader to middle east type protests from citizens demanding more freedom. Microblogs and social networking sites have been top of the list to be hit with authorities fearful citizens might chat to each other and gang up on the ruling commies.

The full list of songs banned by China is below. The artists can take a bow. Being included should be considered a badge of honor. More worthy of any MTV award.
