This brooklyn girl's first major role came in the TV series 'Get Real' (1999). It proved short lived but Hathaway subsequently went on to star in the Princess Diaries(2001). Director Garry Marshall declared he loved her immediately when she auditioned - because she fell off her chair! Its as good a way as any to land a role.

There followed a string of comedy and family orientated films for Anne culiminating in the sequal to The Princess Diaries - The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement in 2004. Breaking our from the mould in 2005 she appeared topless in Havoc and carried out several sexual scenes. Brokeback Mountain (2005) beckoned next and then a leading role was hers in 'The Devil Wears Prada (200)' wear she appeared opposite Meryl Streep.

Hathaway apparently turned down the role in the 2007 film 'Knocked Up' because in a scene featuring the actress giving birth a real vagina was to be shown (not hers!). She subsequently said it was 'unneccessary to the film'.

In a case of real life being more exciting than the movies her boyfriend Raffaello Follieri was arrested on fraud charges in 2008. He is currently charged with fleecing investors of millions - pretending to be a representative of the Vatican and asking for funds to re-develop catholic properties. The relationship ended in 2008 and Follieri is currently on bail of...$21 million!

If you are ever lucky to snag a date with Anne we suggest you brush up on sushi. If she had to pick one food to eat for ever it would be sushi because 'its delicious and has such variety'. Brocoli and brown rice is another favourite. We advice a large overcoat with deep pockets and stashed food to get you by.

She's also provided our favourite description of making out (with Steve Carell in 'Get Smart')
"Making out with him is like the yummiest lollipop. Dipped in sunshine. And wrapped around in a masculine wrapper."
