Alicia Silverstone

Alicia Silverstone was born in Sanfranciso, California, USA. Raised in a tradional Jewish household, she was just seventeen when she landed a role in The Crush.

Having become legally emancipated at the age of 15 so that she could work the hours required for the file, her dedication and effort paid off when she won two MTV Movie awards in 1994 for her role in the film - Best Breakthrough Performance and Best Villain.

 Shortly after the film she also starred in two videos for Aerosmith (was known as the Aerosmith chick for a period!) and these led to an audition for her big film break - Clueless in 1995. Clueless was massive and earned her worldwide fame. She quickly added two more awards to her belt at the MTV Video Awards in 1996 - Best Female Performance and Most Desirable Female. No small accomlishments by any means.

 Since then she has starred in a string of movies, not least Batman and Robin, Excess Baggage, Kidnapped,Love's Labour Lost and most recently in 2006 Stormbreaker. None have quiet matched the critical acclaim and success of Clueless.

Nonetheless she remains hugely poplular and in demand. She has always been an active environmentalist and animal welfare campaigner appearing naked in PETA adverts much to the delight of men worldwide. And animals. She went further than most in 1998 and became a Vegan stating 'I was an animal lover who was eating animals'. She also has an animal sanctuary in Los Angeles.
