You gotta hand it to celebs. At the tender age of nine, when I was busy fashioning spears out of tree branches in Rambo induced fantasies of 'brave-hero-saves-everyone', they were actually doing something useful. Like modelling. Or taking acting classes. They sure weren't coming home caked in mud, which must be said, is great camouflage when you don't have one of those professional camo kits to hand.

Elisha Cuthbert is no different. Born in Canada in 1982, she started modelling kids clothes when she was nine, went onto to become a foot model, then started appearing on TV shows. Her first appearance on TV was for the kids show Are You Afraid of the Dark? Soon after she co-hosted the show Popular Mechanics for Kids which apparently captured the attention of Hillary Clinton so much she invited Elisha to the White House.

After some movie appearances like Dancing on the Moon, Airspeed and Lucky Girl (won a Gemini Award) she was cast as Kim Bauer in 24, daughter of legendary Jack Bauer. That saw her in the first three series but her character was absent from the fourth. She guest stars in the rest of the 24 series as required.

Not afraid of giving her roles her all, she played a character in House of Wax that had to attempt to open her mouth while her lips were sealed with glue. Not one to fake it, Elisha wanted realism, not fake prosthetics. So she super glued her lips shut. Nice! What would happen if she had to be stabbed violently to death in a scene?
