 Some of us truly are terrible. We flirt like hyenas and can make those watching us give an inward groan.
Here we pick out the easiest fliting techniques to employ.
Flirting accomplishes two things. Firstly it creates a romantic interaction with a female. Secondly it tells us whether the female is interested or not. Flirting is a natural thing. It can be improved but is genuinely hard to fake. All we can do is enhance our flirting abilities rather than building a whole new set. So if you find some of the techniques below hard, don't worry about it. Ignore it! You'll also find that you'll combine several methods in one movement, such as glancing, eye contact and smiling in one go. Eye Contact
The most basic form of flirting. When we're interested in someone we make eye contact and hold it slightly longer than we do with friends or acquaintances. Try not to make it into a staring match. You'll freak her out and look wierd in the process. Look at her eyes (not her breasts) when talking to her. A classic is to look at her whilst talking to someone else (preferably not your wife or girlfriend...). 
Shaking Hands
Okay, its not a town hall dance from the 1950's but in some situations we have to shake hands with girls that we fancy. Give a good firm handshake, not some weak feeble loose grip. Glance at her eyes while doing so, smile for second and move on. Use her first name if being introduced. Glances
We look at people that interest us. We blank out people we find annoying or threatening. Start throwing glances her way. Not often, but enough so that she catches you looking. Smile when caught and then turn away. Glancing down slightly after eye contact means you're shy but interested. Leave this to the girls. Its ok to look at her body, but not in a perverted way. Its not the right time for her to figure out you're a creep. Glancing at her body should be a brief 'look down-look up' process taking no more than a second to accomplish. Be a man, not a joker.
Some men have a tendacy to turn into apes when trying to impress a girl. They'll climb electricity pylons, roar at their best mates antics and beat their chest in some sort of mating ritual. All the while downing enough drink to pay the barman for the week. Unless she happens to be Princess Kong drunk on vodka, she'll find it amusing for all of five minutes before moving on. If you want to look like a teenie bobber trying to score, do the above. If you want to look any bit of a man employ other techinques! Look behind you!

Moving away from the body language aspect of flirting, to get anywhere you will need to talk to her. Open with general lines, not expressions of undying love. Examples of opening lines include something about the general environment ('Pretty busy here tonight?!', 'Great band!') or if you're feeling confident you can try a chat up line. They may be corny but used properly can be used as an ice breaker. Its not really important what you say so long as its not completely off the wall. If she looks disinterested, preoccupied or ignores you then move on. It means flirting is at an end and her boyfriend is coming around the corner. When talking give her your complete attention. Listen attentively, look at her (No glances towards her best friend) and laugh at her jokes.
Touches
Really as a man you should never start engagning in physical contant first. Let her take the lead on this one. She may touch you gently on the arm, move her chair closer, admire your ring (preferably not your marriage ring), brush of you etc. By letting her dicate the pace on physical contact you reassure her, make her more confortable and don't look desperate in the process. Ask her out
Unless you get to smooch her right there and then you have to bring the process a stage further. We can flirt to our hearts content, but unless we finalise the deal we will end up endlessly flirting. Ask her out. For coffee, movies, drink, walks - anything at all. If she's interested she'll accept. Trust us on this. Anyone who is interested in you will be delighted to go for a walk with you even if it does sound awfully old. And the worst that can happen is she says no. In which case move on. Don't get to caught up in the No's. They are part of life and save us wasting our time! |
