 Her feisty character on Ally McBeal caught all our attention. We here at ThugVillage still don't care if we get sued - So long as Lucy Liu prosecutes the case.
Her parents immigrated from Taiwan to Queens, New York. Her first taste of acting came in college when she audioned for a part in Alice in Wonderland. Even though only casting for a supporting role, she got the lead role. Her mesmerising looks and talent saw that success replicated in Ally McBeal, which she acted in from 1998 to 2002. 'Ling Woo' in Ally McBeal was created specifically for her after she auditioned for the part of 'Nelle Porter'. If thats not capturing the imagination of Directors then I don't know what is. In  2000 Charlie's Angels opened. Lucy Liu played her first leading role as 'Alex Munday'. The film was an instant hit. The sequel Charlies Angels: Full Throttle was another massive hit. Her next film appearance was in Kill Bill, directed by Quentin Tarintino, where she played O-Ren Ishii. She subsequently won an MTV Motive Award for Best Movie Villan. She also won an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series (Ally MacBeal) and a Screen Actors Guild Award Nomination for Best Actress in a Comedy Series. In the past two years Liu has tried her hand at directing movies - Her latest efforts being Freedom's Fury and 3 Needles. Like so many other famous women, we're put to shame by the amount of things she can do. English, Chinese, Italian,Spanish and some Japenese flow off her tounge.. Her interests inlcude rock climbing, martial arts,skiing and playing the accordian. If only we could get our asses out of the pub, we too could be famous.
