We all need it. We all have it. But sometimes it fizzles out and we need a push to get us going again. Taking a straw poll around the office, here's our best, not so scientific advice on how to get motivated again.
1. The sooner you finish whatever it is, the sooner you can be in the pub. 2. Stick a picture of your goal next to your work. It'll remind you of what your working for. Family, kids, car, house, holiday, ideal physicue, girl etc.
3. Keep reminding yourself of the goal, not the journey. 4. Remind yourself the journey can be just as rewarding as the goal.
5. Know that every step you take to finish this makes you stronger.
6. When its really tough and you have no motivation to get going - know that its only the weak give up now. You're not weak are you?
7. If you fail this task, you'll fail the next, and the next, and the next....
8. You need the bragging rights.
9. When you succeed you won't need to do it ever again.
10. Finish what you started. All the time and everytime.
11. DOn't think about it. Just do it!
12. Leave it for an hour. Then get back to it. The break will do you good.
13. Make a plan. Stick to it.
14. Tell everybody what you're doing so that you'll look like an idiot if you fail.
15. Reward yourself. Either small rewards throughout the task, or one big reward at the end.
16. Break down the task into smaller parts. Set times/dates for completing each part.
17. Block out distractions. Tape over your friends mouth. Lock the dog out in the rain. Place fireworks inside the TV.
18. Refuse to think of failure.
