Dsquared2 - Men's Collection, Fall Winter 2010

Dsquared2 - FW 2010Dsquared2 - Blood, cuts, gashes and black eyes adorned the models as they strutted their way down the catwalk. Bill Kaulitz (from the band Tokio Hotel) was lofted in a cage complete with black wings. Some of the clothes had blood stains on them. And you know what? It worked. We've come to expect something special from Dsquared2. They didn't disappoint.

2005 saw Christina Aguilera stripping male models of their clothes. 2007 was the year Rihanna drove onto the stage in a muscle car. So we'll accept that 2010 is the year that Dsquared2 decided to do something that would fit right in alongside the the Rocky Horror Picture show.

But behind the over the top presentation, the flamboyance, behind the clash between masculinity and something bordering on transsexual, the clothes were tough, hard and all man. The collection reminds me of the film A Clockwork Orange, by Stanley Kubrick. Maybe the splashes of blood and the clothes evoked the violence of the film. The collection hints at the fashion of working class England cut with an eye to the future. Rough cloth, leather and chains while still emulating the stylish clothes of the upper classes.
